The Origins and Development of Hanfu

Chinese hanfu from

Clothing, food, housing and transportation are indispensable, and Chinese dress, as the “first of clothing and food”, has always been regarded as the representative of the Chinese nation. China has a great etiquette, so it is called summer, the beauty of clothing chapter, called China. With my Han family clothes, I am the state of etiquette. The beauty of the Han Chinese dress is called Hua, it is brocade dress, Tianji cloud brocade, dancing in the change of dynasties. When you read, “Draped in the splendor of the Luo Yi, the Yao Bi’s Hua Ju.” “Step by step, the hall of the Emperor, like a traveling dragon riding the clouds.” “Where are the mandarin ducks’ embroidered belts thrown, and to whom are the peacocks’ robes entrusted?” You will be mesmerized by its splendor.
What is Hanfu?
The origin of China’s name “Huaxia” is related to Hanfu. The justice of the book “note:” the coronet clothing Hua Zhang said Hua, the big country is said to be summer.” Since ancient times, China has been known as “the country of clothing, etiquette,” and “clothing” has become the pronoun of civilization.
Hanfu, the full name is “the traditional dress of the Han nationality”, also known as Han clothes, Han clothes, Chinese clothes. Historically, Hanfu began with the Yellow Emperor and was finalized in the Zhou Dynasty, forming a complete crown system in the Han Dynasty. Since then, every Chinese dynasty has taken the inheritance of Han clothes and crowns as a national event. However, later, because of historical reasons, the inheritance of Han clothes is almost severed: Zhu Yuanzhang in the Ming Dynasty ordered to comply with the Tang system to slightly eliminate the influence of the Mongolian dress; but the Qing Dynasty’s “shaving hair and changing clothes” so that Zhu Yuanzhang’s efforts to restore the Han Chinese dress is almost in vain.
The development of Chinese dress:
The renaissance of China and Xia, clothing first. It started with the clothes and crowns, and reached to Bo Yuan. Today, China is almost the only nation in the world that has lost its traditional dress. In Japan, if a woman walks down the street in a kimono and clogs, pedestrians will not look at her. In Scotland, a man wearing a kilt would not surprise anyone. But if you wear a Chinese kimono on the street in China, people will either think you are crazy or mistake you for a Japanese wearing a kimono, which is heartbreaking and helpless.
The form of Hanfu exudes the aesthetic tendency of the Chinese nation of harmony and dignity, heaven and earth and people, flowing and smooth, as well as delicate and meticulous. Developed to date, the traditional Hanfu has been restored after the examination of relevant experts. In order to reshape the national consciousness and self-confidence of the Hanfu Chinese people, a “Hanfu movement” emerged in the society with the intention of reviving the Hanfu. However, Hanfu has not been popularized. Why is this so, and what causes the difficulty in popularizing the Hanfu?
The inheritance of Hanfu:
In fact, one of the first reasons for the inheritance of Hanfu is that, historically, the standard of Hanfu has not been standardized in terms of what Hanfu actually looks like. Revival of the Hanfu movement has just begun, the internal differentiation of several major factions, there is the Royal Han faction, anti-Royal Han faction, the party of evidence, the shape of the party, the party of improvement, and so on.
We know that for any movement to run smoothly, it must be united as one. Otherwise there will be a lot of bickering before it even starts. For example, when a Hanfu-loving student buys a Hanfu on the Internet to wear and sunbathe on the Internet, immediately there may be people with different opinions. Someone will say, “This is not a Hanfu, it’s a Tang suit.” Or say, “Yours is just a studio outfit, just Han elements,” “You can’t match it like this, Hanfu is not worn like this.” And so on, and even some people will scold you for wearing Japanese kimono, unpatriotic. This kind of misunderstanding really makes a lot of little friends dumbfounded. This way down, the Hanfu requirements, the threshold is really too high, but also let a lot of people dare not continue to wear, dare not like Hanfu!
Wear Chinese dress “rules”:
After reading, I also want to talk about their own views, to share with you, wear Chinese dress “rules”. In fact, the Hanfu “rules” are very few, as long as you wear a Hanfu, the shape of the correct, do not plagiarize others, that’s all right, as for how to match, that are with your own preferences to determine. Life is often accused of: such as being accused of wearing canvas shoes, do not comb a good hair, will be different periods of Hanfu mix and match, no makeup, etc., these accusations are overkill. In fact, the mix and match of Hanfu and fashion is now very common, as long as the shape is right, it is a Hanfu, you can match with any clothes you think are beautiful, not necessarily to wear Hanfu all over the Hanfu. Imagine, if the collocation are to require others with your ideas, that is not too harsh? If someone else asks you to do that, I’m sure you wouldn’t be happy about it, would you?
China has always been known as “the country of clothing”, Hanfu culture also has a long history. But because of the many misunderstandings about Hanfu, thousands of years of traditional culture has been gradually abandoned. Fortunately, Hanfu has not been completely forgotten, the national culture behind Hanfu is still being passed on, and even in New York’s Times Square, Hanfu has appeared many times. Through Hanfu, we are picking up the lost culture, perceiving the charm of excellent traditional culture, and promoting Hanfu and the national culture behind it, to the public and to the world. Let’s come together to appreciate the beauty of Hanfu and pass on the beauty of Hanbo
